KOAN is pleased to announce that it has officially become part of the Abinsula group. 🚀
This operation marks a strategic step in the growth of the Sardinian company, further strengthening its presence in the industrial automation sector, embedded Linux, and Open Source technologies.

Abinsula

Founded in 1996 in Bergamo, Koan has established itself as a leading company in the field of software for industrial automation and IoT. Since 2000, the company has focused its activities on the development of embedded Linux solutions, gradually consolidating a prominent position at the European level. Koan is also actively involved in the development and promotion of the Yocto Project, an effort that led in 2012 to the appointment of its founder, Marco Cavallini, as a Yocto Project Ambassador.

Abinsula, founded in 2012 in Sassari as an innovative startup, quickly established itself as a global technology partner in the automotive, Industrial IoT, agritech, and cybersecurity sectors, with operational offices in Italy, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. The company is also a certified incubator and has contributed to the growth of some of the most promising startups in the Italian tech landscape.

“Joining the Abinsula Group marks the beginning of a new chapter for us, where innovation, expertise, and collaboration will allow us to face market challenges with even greater determination. This integration represents a strategic move that will enable Koan to significantly broaden its offering, going beyond the embedded Linux services that have defined the company over the past twenty-five years. Thanks to the union with Abinsula, Koan will benefit from a larger team of highly skilled engineers, further strengthening our ability to support clients with greater precision, care, and continuity,” said Marco Cavallini, founder and CEO of Koan.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Koan into our Group, following years of collaboration built on mutual respect and shared goals. This integration will enhance our ability to deliver high-tech solutions in a context where artificial intelligence and embedded architectures are evolving at an extraordinary pace”, said Andrea Sanna, CEO of Abinsula.

The integration of Abinsula and Koan aims to establish a center of excellence in the Open Source domain applied to embedded software and automation, capable of tackling the most complex challenges of the global tech market.
